What is SLM and why is schizophrenia a gift?

SLM movement stands on idea that schizophrenia is not a disease but a rare gift that helps people to create masterpieces and think in more abstract way than normal people. To prove that I want show you some of the persons who were gifted schizophrenia.

Isaak Newton

Yes, this great man was schizophrenic. As a child, he was a very quiet and dreamy child. Later these features were preserved. More than anything, Newton loved to sit down with books and his scientific research, immersed in them so much that he could forget about food for several days, and generally stopped responding to what was happening around him.

This man made a lot of the greatest and fundamental discoveries in physics and lived for 84 years. For example, he discovered the fundamental law of universal gravitation and the main laws of classical mechanics, developed the theory of celestial bodies, and his three-volume work “Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy” brought the scientist worldwide fame.

Friedrich Nietzsche

Friedrich Nietzsche, one of the greatest philosophers in history also was gifted schizophrenia. It is known for certain that the philosopher wrote all his most famous works precisely during periods of exacerbations. For example, “Thus spake Zarathustra”. In that book he described a concept of Overhuman: a creature that, in its power, should surpass modern man as much as the human being surpassed the ape. Many people think that he wrote about the fascist ideas but this is wrong! The concept of Overhuman has nothing to do with fascism. Actually, Nietzsche described a Schizophrenic as an Overhuman. He knew that very soon shizos will take the power and become the living gods because he was schizophrenic himself.

Ernest Hemingway

You will be surprised but American Nobel Prize-winning writer and journalist Ernest Miller Hemingway was schizophrenic too. He was considered a classic, he was imitated, he was envied. Despite an active lifestyle — participation in two European wars, reporting, travel, sports, hunting, fishing. And yet — a dozen novels and the same number of collections of short stories. And this does not include his amazing non-fiction — “Death in the Afternoon”, “Green Hills of the Late” and “The Holiday that is always with you.”

He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, the highest literary prize in the United States. A few years before his death, he won the Nobel Prize for Description. He lived a life that one can only envy. We believe that he became such a great man because of his rare gift — schizophrenia.

Albert Einstein

According to most scientists, Einstein showed clear signs of a schizophrenic disorder. At school, Einstein studied very poorly, but on the other hand, he succeeded in independent study of sciences perfectly. Often behaved aggressively, rushed to fight with teachers and classmates. In adolescence suddenly became very religious, but it quickly passed. The founder of the theory of relativity was incredibly absent-minded, sometimes forgot to wash and shave for several days, did not remember to whom and what he was talking about.

Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist, widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest physicists of all time. Einstein is best known for developing the theory of relativity, but he also made important contributions to the development of the theory of quantum mechanics. Relativity and quantum mechanics are together the two pillars of modern physics. He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics “for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect”, a pivotal step in the development of quantum theory. His intellectual achievements and originality resulted in “Einstein” becoming synonymous with “genius”. Only the man with the gift of schizophrenia could achieve such success.

Modern times

All of these masterpieces were created by real schizophrenics. We don’t know their names and their personalities. All we know is that they can create beautiful pieces of art. That’s why schizophrenia is a gift and that’s why people with this gift have a great talent and abilities to change our world to the good.
